This study aims to analyze the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ critical thinking skills in Akidah Akhlak at Madrasah Aliyah pendidikan Ilmu Al-Quran (MA PIQ) Singosari Malang. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The participants were students of Class X-A as the experimental group, whi were taught using the PBL model, and Class X-B as the control goup, who received conventional instruction. Data were collected through critical thinking tests administered as pre-tests and post-test and were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test and Mann–Whitney U Test. The results showed that the exeperimental group’s mean critical thinking score increased from 83.7 in the pre-test to 92.0 in the post-test, representing an increase of 8.3 points. Meanwhile, the control group’s mean score increased from 81.0 to 82.8, representing an increase of 1.8 points. The Wilcoxon test indicated a significant improvement in the both the experimental group (p < 0.001) and the control group (p=0.003). Furthermore, the Mann-Whitney U test showed a significant difference between the two groups (U = 31.0, p < 0.001). these findings indicate that the implementation of PBL resulted in a greater improvement in students’ critical thinking skills than conventional instruction in Akidah Akhlak. Therefor, PBL can be be considered a learning model that supports Therefore, PBL can be considered a learning model that development of students’ critical thinking skills
