EDUKASI REGIONAL ANESTESI DENGAN MEDIA BOOKLET UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PENGETAHUAN PASIEN PRA ANESTESI DI RUMAH SAKIT KHUSUS BEDAH JATIWINANGUN

Abstrak

The increasing use of regional anesthesia requires structured preanesthetic education so that patients understand the procedure, preparation, risks, and recovery process. This community service activity aimed to improve preanesthetic patients’ knowledge through a booklet at Jatiwinangun Surgical Specialty Hospital. Thirty patients scheduled for elective surgery under regional anesthesia participated. Knowledge was assessed using a 10-item questionnaire before and after individual booklet-based education combined with an interactive discussion. Before education, 24 participants (80.0%) had poor knowledge and 6 (20.0%) had moderate knowledge, with a mean score of 39.00. After education, 26 participants (86.7%) achieve good knowledge and 4 (13.3%) remain in the moderate category, with a mean score of 85.67. Booklet-based preanesthetic education improves patients’ knowledge and can be used as a structured educational medium for preoperative preparation.
