Abstrak

This study aims to improve the science learning achievement of third-grade elementary students on the topic “Characteristics and Needs of Living Things” through the implementation of a thematic learning model. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects were 13 third-grade students at SD Naskat Awear Rumngevur. Data were collected through learning outcome tests, observation of teacher and student activities, student response questionnaires, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively both quantitatively and qualitatively. The results show a significant increase in average scores and learning mastery: from 62.5 (mastery 35.7%) in the pre-cycle to 74.2 (67.8%) in the first cycle, and 83.6 (89.3%) in the second cycle. Student activity and participation also improved notably following the application of thematic learning based on real activities and group discussions. These findings confirm that the thematic learning model is effective in enhancing science achievement and is highly recommended for lower-grade elementary classes, especially in resource-limited environments.
